What this is: Colors exist in many spaces. #c8102e (hex) is just one. RGB, HSL, HSV, CMYK and OKLCH describe the same color with different parameters — each convenient for different jobs (design systems, print, perceptually-uniform interpolation).
How it works: Parses any input via the browser's own color engine (canvas fillStyle round-trip), then converts to each target space with the standard formulas. The tint/shade ramp mixes your color with white (lighter) and black (darker) at 10%–90%. Contrast uses WCAG relative luminance.
Worked example: #c8102e → rgb(200, 16, 46) → hsl(351, 85%, 42%) → oklch(54% 0.20 19) → name: crimson-ish
